Google My Business is now referred to as Google Business Profile as Google migrates services to Maps and Search.
Changing your company’s name in Google My Business could be necessary for a number of reasons. One possibility is buying an existing company and making it your own. Perhaps a placeholder name was used when you first claimed your Google Maps page. In any case, a potential customer’s initial online encounter with your company should feature an accurate name and up-to-date visuals.
Google Maps makes it easy to update your company name.
My blog explains the benefits of joining My Business if you’re still on the fence. How to claim your Google My Business page was another topic I covered in a previous blog post. To check it out, just go here.
Here are the measures you need to take to rebrand your My Business account.
- First, access your Google account. Your Gmail account may be involved here.
- Select the square with nine dots in the top right corner. Here you may access all of your Google apps by clicking on the appropriate icon. (Sometimes you’ll need to tap “see more” to see the “My Business” section.) To access My Company, please click here.
- Your company’s name will appear in the My Business window. To change the company name, choose the blue edit button.
- A blue box will appear on your screen…
Select the edit button beside your business’s name.
- Edit the name and then click “Apply.” The following graphic serves as a reminder that the implementation of these modifications may take several days.
